2005/12/15: New year postcards

Aya visited the Tokyo Central Post Office in Marunouchi, Tokyo on the 15th for the New Year greeting postcard launch ceremony where she helped post cards alongside Japan Post President, Ikuta Masaharu. Aya, who wore a long-sleeved white kimono, said she will be sending out a lot of cards herself. She also mentioned that in January she will get a vacation but has not decided on what to do yet.

2005/12/15: Favourite CM Talent

The votes for CMDB DATA's yearly Favourite CM Talent poll are in and at the No.1 spot is famous boyband SMAP. Aya ranked #6 in the Top10 but is the #1 female talent. To see the full results you can go to the official website here.

2005/12/14: New Single + Album!!

Aya will release her 13th single and 4th album on February 15th and March 8th respectively. The limited edition of the album will come with a DVD. No other information is know for the moment. As for the second live tour DVD, released Today in Japan, it entered the Oricon Music DVD charts at #11!

2005/12/09: Christmas Candle Tree

Aya was present on the 8th in Shiodome, Tokyo at the Nippon Television network plaza for the lighting ceremony of a 9.2-meter tall Christmas candle tree with a total of 1200 candles used to illuminate it. The tree is said to represent the symbol of the Nippon Television network and will be exposed from the 8th to the 25th.

2005/12/08: "Yume no chikara" New PV

To promote the release of Aya's 2nd live DVD, a new promotion video for "Yume no chikara" will be on air starting today. The video features the live performance of the song which is also included in the DVD. "UETO AYA LIVE TOUR 2005 Genki hatsu ratsuu?" as well as a documentary photo book will go on sale December 14th.

2005/12/04: 4th album in production!

In this week's "Hatachi ni High touch" (weekly radio program) Aya revealed that she is currently recording songs for her forth original album which is scheduled to release in Spring 2006! No other details are known for the moment but I'll keep you informed.

2005/11/29: Nail Queen 2005 Awards!

Aya and close friend Becky alongside hitomi, Mii and T.M. Revolution won the Nail Queen & King 2005 awards and were present, on the 29th, at the awarding ceremony. Also chosen to receive the prize is athlete Yokomine Sakura.

2005/11/22: Aya won't kiss by no means!

Aya was present at the Lotteria Chiba Marines champion fest event on the 20th in Tokyo at the Chiba Marine Stadium. She appeared wearing the Marines' uniform. To conclude the event Valentine gave a hug to Aya which led the press corps to ask "What about the supervisor's kiss reward?" Aya denied laughing "Please stop that~".

In other news, Aya will appear in a new CM for the "FIFA Club World Championship Toyota Cup Japan 2005" (11/22 O.A.) with comedian Akashiya Sanma, sumo wrestler Asashouryuu, professional baseball player Oh Sadaharu, mogul skier Uemura Aiko and athlete Tamesue Dai. The CM song will be sang by Irish singer Enya who will release her first album in five years on November 23rd.

2005/11/11: Aya challenges the kiss scene!

Aya alongside newcomer Fukuda Saki, both from Oscar Promotion, filmed the CM for the LOTTE "Love Fruits Gum" that will be on air the 14th. The pair will appear kissing fruits to reveal the delicious gum. During the interview following the shoot, Aya said "It was fun to be in a unit for once and not be the only center of attention".

2005/11/08: Best Smile Prize!

Aya and famous horse rider Take Yutaka were chosen to receive the 2005 Best Smile Prize sponsored by the Japan Dental Association. Aya responded to her win "In the future, even in harsh times, I will try my best to keep a sincere smile on". The crowning ceremony was held on the 8th in the afternoon in Chiyoda, Tokyo.

2005/11/07: New "Soh" Commemoration!

To commemorate their new "Soh", LOTTE has printed pictures of Aya advertising the product on Passnet cards for the 17 main stations of the Toukyuu Line. At the PR on the 7th, Aya was saying that while on vacation she mostly only takes the subway to go out and when she'd see her pictures on Passnet cards she would get embarrassed but also be happy at the same time.

2005/11/02: Aya wins CM acting prize!

Aya alongside Miyazawa Rie and Masahiro Motoki were present on the 1st at the 45th annual ACC CM Festival ceremony, held in Tokyo, where the three of them were awarded the best CM acting prize. Aya was picked to win for her performance in the "Oronamin C" commericals.

2005/10/25: "Brothers Grimm" Premiere

On the 23rd, Aya made a guest appearance at the 18th Annual TIFF in Roppongi, Tokyo at the premiere of the movie "Brothers Grimm". She attended the event dressed in a Red Riding Hood costume and rode on a coach accompanied by Ted Gilliam. Gilliam said joking "Aya is very beautiful, I would like to marry her someday!"

2005/10/20: 2005 Best Hair Award

Aya attended the 2005 Best Hair Awards on the 18th in Kyoto where she was crowned winner. She responded that she was very honored and very happy to receive a fashion prize. Aya also revealed that she only needed to have long hair for her role in NHK's taiga drama "Yoshitsune", Aya's scenes being completed, her next hairstyle will be a short one. To the question "What haircut do you prefer on a man?" Aya answered that she likes closely cropped hair.

2005/10/16: Aya meets school children!

Aya attended on the 15 the closing ceremony of the "Kamamoto soccer classroom" at the Yume island stadium in Tokyo. About 700 children were present and shouting of joy when she appeared. Aya said "I love mischievous children, I want to play with them" in the end Aya was very pleased to have been in contact with children.

2005/10/02: Aya visits PM Minister

Aya and cencus CM co-star Daniel Kahl visited the Public Management Minister Aso Taro (left) in Chiyoda, Tokyo. Aya felt a bit nervous just entering the room but the Minister soon came to tell her to just relax and not sweat it. Aya said about Aso "His voice has an aura of refined masculinity and his smile is wonderful" and Taro responded about Aya that "Real things are better than those you see on TV".

2005/09/29: Aya becomes Mascot Girl

It was announced that Aya was chosen to be the mascot girl for the coming FIFA World Club Championship 2005 in Japan which will be broadcast on NTV from December 11th through the 18th. The picture shows Aya and the official mascot, the Soccer Monster.

2005/09/28: "Yoshitsune" conclusion

On the 27th, Aya filmed her last scene in the taiga (long run) drama "Yoshitsune" at the NHK studios in Tokyo. During this final scene of the last episode (which will air on December 11th) when Utsubo and Yoshitsune are separated, Aya said she had been overwhelmed by natural tears from the way Takizawa Hideaki (in the role of Yoshitsune) sincerely acted.

In other news, Aya will release her 2nd Live DVD on December 14th. It will include 18 tracks and possibly some bonus footage but that is still unknown at the moment.

2005/09/26: Aya attends PR event

Actress and singer Ueto Aya (20) was present on the 25th at the " Heisei 17th National Cencus" PR Event in Tokyo. Aya said to the people who had gathered that "It is important for everyone who lives in Japan to know about the Cencus". To the question "Did you write this by living on your own?" She answered that even if she is good-looking or popular, she is still very shy and could only write it with support from her family.

2005/09/20: "Breath" release event

On the 19th, Aya held the sale commemoration event and autograph session of her newest photo book "Breath" at "Book first" in Shibuya, Tokyo where 500 fans were gathered. As she was answering the journalists' questions she voiced the desire, once again, to get married soon and have a family but also said she didn't want to rush it. For her birthday Aya spent it with her family. She also said she drank Sake with her staff at her birthday bash and laughed it off saying she still prefers juice.

2005/09/14: "Happy Birthday" photobook!

Aya's latest photobook "Breath" was released today September 14th. The photographs were shot in Guam last July. Aya challenged a new diet for the occasion and said she was very pleased by the results. The 112 page photo book was released by Shueisha and is now on sale for 2730 yen in bookstores all over Japan!

2005/09/09: Aya to star in new drama!

Aya will be starring in a new drama scheduled to air this fall alongside actress Kuroki Hitomi entitled "Nada sousou ~kono ai ni ikite~". This new special drama will have Aya playing the role of a single mother and Kuroki will take on the role of the grandmother. Aya was said to be chosen for the part because she is one of the best in the new generation of actresses. The special drama will air October 9th on TBS.

2005/08/25: Aya fifth photobook!

Aya will be releasing her fifth photo book on September 14th (once again on her birthday) and it will be called "Breath".

2005/08/23: Aya refuses to pose nude!

Apaman shop network presented Aya with a special birthday cake at the live event held on the 22nd. As CM character for the company, she posed for photographs for the 2006 sales promotion calendar. Reporters dispatched at the event asked her if she planned on ever posing nude and she smiled and answered "Absolutely not!" .

Aya was present at the first opening day stage greeting of new anime movie "Kiniro no Gash bell!!" on August 6 at Marunouchi TOEI1 in Tokyo. She appeared wearing a black & pink Yukata saying she chose the chic one because she is turning 20 soon. "Kaze wo ukete" which was released on the 3rd is used as the movie's theme song and Aya comented that she was happy to sing for the movie again this year.

2005/08/04: Live Tour 2005 Rehersal!

Aya invited 500 lucky buyers of the "Yume no chikara" single to a special tour rehearsal in Kanagawa, Yokosuka City's art theater on August 2nd where she sang 10 songs including her latest single, produced by Ryoji from Ketsumeishi, "Kaze wo ukete" (which is currently #12 on the Oricon Single Charts). Aya was very involved in the preparation of the live tour not only by singing and dancing but also by choosing the outfits for the concerts and also selecting the songs for the set list. She commented "I want to do this live tour and be able to say I'm happy with it" to the press as they interviewed her after the rehearsal. Aya's nationwide live tour will stop at 11 places and will end at the Tokyo Nakano Sun Plaza on the 29th.

2005/07/21: Contest site + new banner!!

You can now participate in a new contest on Aya's official website brought by Oronamin C. The contest consists in sending pictures of your "oronamin c smile" the prize is a photo pamphlet signed by Aya herself! Of course this is for Japan residents only, once again. 2005/07/11: New "Oronamin C" CM!

"Gokusen" co-stars Akanishi Jin and Kamenashi Kazuya of boyband KAT-TUN were chosen to be the next guest performers in the new 'Oronamin C' CM with Aya. The commercial has been airing since July 9th.

2005/07/01: Movie screening & new CM!

The animation motion picture "Ashita genki ni na~re!" was viewed by 700 persons on June 30 in Tokyo. Aya who voiced the principal character of the movie was present at the early screening of the film alongside singer Hayashi Asuca and essayist Ebina Kayoko .

Aya's new commercial for LOTTE ice cream "SOH" had her eat the ice cream 86 times before the staff could decide on a take for the CM. She exceeded her record of eating the ice cream 48 times back while shooting the summer 2004 LOTTE "SOH" CM. The spot started airing Today.

2005/06/15: First remix album release!

Aya's 1st remix album "UETOAYAMIX" which was cancelled for release back in March is now scheduled to hit stores on August 24th. No information on the track listing or the bonuses is available yet but will surely come soon!

2005/06/13: "Yume no chikara" event!

Aya performed on stage at her new single "Yume no chikara" special live event in Tokyo at the Roppongi Hills Arena on June 12th where more than 2000 fans were there to see Aya sing. Aya started to cry due to all of the fan's ardent rooting. After the performance, Aya talked about her upcoming single "Kaze wo ukete" and said she was very happy with it because it was her first time choosing the title for a song of hers and because she was collaborating with Ketsumeishi whom she loves deeply.

2005/06/12: New single "Kaze wo ukete"!

Aya collaborates with this year's most acclaimed hip-hop/reggae band in Japan, Ketsumeishi! Ryoji, member of the group, produced the new song for Aya called "Kaze wo ukete" (To receive the wind) scheduled to release on August 3rd. He not only penned the song but also composed the music and decided how it should be sang. Aya was very impressed with the way everything went down, she was also happy to collaborate with them since she is a big fan of Ketsumeishi.

2005/06/11: New clip download!

I have updated the clips page with Aya's latest live appearance. She performed her new single "Yume no chikara" (which debuted Wednesday at #6 on the Daily Oricon Charts) at Music Station on June 10. Enjoy the clip!

2005/06/07: Music section updated!

2005/06/06: 12th single information!

Aya's 12th single "Title N/A" will be used as the theme song for the second "Konjiki no Gashbell" animation movie "Attack of Mechavulcan" which hits theaters on August 6th. The new song is described as a summer tune commemorating Aya's last teen years. It will be a collaboration with a very important person in the music show business. The first pressing of the single will include a bonus track. This first pressing bonus is not yet confirmed and may change.

2005/06/01: "Yume no chikara" live event

Aya will be giving a live event to commemorate the release of her latest single "Yume no chikara" that goes on sale next week!! It will take place in Roppongi Hills Arena on June 12 and will start at 18:00PM. To be eligible for the event you must present yourself with your participation ticket inclosed in the "Yume no chikara" single.

2005/05/06: 12th single release decided!

According to Tower Records, Aya will release her 12th maxi single on August 3rd 2005. No title is available right for the moment.

2005/05/04: Message from Oyama Kana!

Volleyball player from the Toray Arrows team Oyama Kana sent a message to Aya saying that she watches her latest drama "Attack No.1" every week. Oyama also mentioned she aspired to co-star with Aya in the drama as a player of the opponent team.

2005/05/01: Aya in new JTB CM!!

Aya was present at the Tokyo Hotel on the 27th to launch her new TV commercial for the Japan Travel Bureau (JTB). The CM presents Aya in different roles such as a cheerleader, a surfer, an Hawaiian and others. Most of the CM was shot in South Korea and she revealed that it is the perfect place to settle down or for a Honeymoon. The CM will be on air May 8th!

Aya and Izumi Pinko were present on the 27th at the production announcement of TBS special drama "Misora Hibari tanjou monoga
tari!" in Tokyo.

2005/04/16: Attack No.1 premiere ratings!

The ratings of Aya's latest drama "Attack No.1" (TV Asahi) are out! The first episode managed to optain an audience of 16.9% in the Nagoya district and one of 15.7% in the Kanto district. This year's ratings surpassed Aya's 2004 hit drama "Ace wo nerae!" which had a rating of 13.7% for it's first episode.

2005/04/15: Men's Plaza AOKI CM launch!

Aya was present at the launching event for her new Men's Plaza AOKI television CM on the 14th in Tokyo. For the commercial Aya was dressed in the same costume as the famous 1967 comic book character 'Speed' in "Mach GO! GO! GO!" (also known as Speed Racer in USA). The new commercial will be broadcast on the 21st. As from now, Aya appears in 20 TV spots and is, inarguably, Japan's new CM Queen.

2005/04/10: Attack No.1 event + updates!

Aya and the cast of TV Asahi's new live action drama "Attack No.1" attended an interview in Roppongi, Tokyo on the 6th. After a set of questions, Toshishiko Takamizawa and idol Fukuda Saki, who sings the opening song to the series, joined them on stage to conclude the interview.

2005/04/02: New event + update!

Aya and "Attack No.1" co-star Morita Ayaka participated in the initiation ceremony of a new company done at TV Asahi in Roppongi, Tokyo on April 1st. The 23 new employees each received a golden ball and yelled "Attack!" while Aya encouraged them to always "Aim for No.1". Hirose Michisada, the company's president came out dressed in the same volleyball outfit as the girls and made everyone burst into laughter.

2005/04/01: Latest CM news

Aya was present at the new "Oronamin C" CM launch event on the 30th. The latest CM features Bobby (left) & Adagony (right). Aya plays the role of the president of the United States and must elect the strongest bodyguard in the world. Bobby plays the role of the bodyguard selected by Aya. The commercial will start airing on April 2nd.

Aya was chosen to star in yet a new CM. This time for the Kikkoman sauce which is usually used for Sukiyaki and other similar dishes. The company said that they chose Aya for the commercial because of her cheerful character. The new CM will be on air starting April 1st.

2005/03/27: Latest news + update!

Aya was present at the release commemoration event of her new photo book "Last Teen" and her trading card box "VISUAL PHOTOCARD COLLECTIONUeto Aya" on the 27th in Shibuya, Tokyo where she shook hands with 700 fans who were present for the special occasion.

Oscar dispatched their "female army corps" at the opening ceremony of the opening baseball game on the 26th at the 'Yahoo! Dome' in Fukuoka where about 35,000 people were present. Aya received, from Shinjo, a signed wristband after the game and said that it still had Shinjo's scent & feel to it.

2005/03/26: LOTTE CM + comic book!

Aya's new commercial for LOTTE ice cream "Soh" was launched in the Ikebukuro Station in Seibu Ikebukuro line, in Tokyo on March 22nd. The latest CM features yet another animation of Aya which can be played on a cellular phone when it reads the "movie code" on the rear of the cards located in the station.

Shogakukan's "Shoujo Comic" magazine started serializing, on March 19th, a new comic based on the real-life story of Aya. "Ueto Aya Monogatari" will focus on the filming of the the movie "Azumi". This new manga idea came after a poll revealed that Aya was the readers' favourite actress.

2005/03/16: Aya to star in new drama!

Aya was chosen to star in TBS's 50th anniversary special drama in the role of Misora Hibari (1937-1989) based on the famous fifties singer's life. The two hour program will be televised on May 29th (Hibari's birthday) at 9h00PM.

Aya's new single "Yume no chikara" (TV Asahi drama "Attack No.1" ending song) out on 6/8 will be coupling with "Get Fight". The single will include a new remix and instrumental version of the title track.

2005/03/12: Azumi2 out in theaters!

Aya & co-stars Ishigaki Yuuma and Oguri Shun were present at the opening day greeting for their latest movie "Azumi2 Death or Love" at the Hibiya Cinema in Tokyo. It was said that purchase offers have come from 7 countries in Southeast Asia and North America.

Although not yet confirmed, many sources say Aya's 2nd live tour will take place in early August of 2005.

2005/03/08: Aya to confront Shinjo!

Aya attended the film preview and completion announcement of the new animated movie "Ashita genki ni nare" on the 7th. Essayist Ebina Kayoko gave her dearest thanks to Aya for her work as voice actress. The preview was shown followed by a live performance of the theme song "Renka" sang by Hayashi Asuca.

2005/03/07: Aya to confront Shinjo!

Aya and other talents from Oscar Promotion such as, Kikukawa Rei and Yonekura Ryo will be participating in the opening ceremony of the opening game, held in the Yahoo! Dome, with professional baseball team, the 'Fukuoka Softbank Hawks'. With the other girls in defense, Aya will be the pitcher that confronts the team's strong batter, Tsuyoshi Shinjo. The Oscar team said that they were all very honored to be part of this event and that although feeling a bit nervous, they will do their best!

2005/03/03: Azumi talk!

Aya attended a special live event, part of the promoting campaign, for her latest movie "Azumi2" which will be out on March 12th. Aya talked about how the film was accentuated on Azumi's first love but has not lost it's first flavors. She also admitted that she would like to do 'Azumi3', the producers confirmed that there are plans for a future sequel.

2005/02/23: Aya appears in bridal show!

Aya was a special guest model at the wedding gown exposition "2005 YUMI KATSURA GRAND COLLECTION" in Tokyo. She appeared on stage wearing a mini wedding dress specially created by Katsura Yumi as she imagined Aya wearing the gown for this special occasion. Aya commented that she would like to someday get married as she enumerated the traits of her ideal man.

2005/02/22: Live volleyball practice!

Aya attended a special volleyball practice at a Girl High School in Tokyo to promote her newest drama "Attack No.1" scheduled to air on April 14th on TV Asahi. Aya received the advices from one of Japan's finest sportswomen, former volleyball coach, Obayashi Motoko, who was part of the Atlanta Olympic Games back in 1996.

Aya's 11th single will be released on June 8th! It will be used as the ending song for "Attack No.1". The new song will be produced by THE ALFEE's guitarist Takamizawa Toshihiko.

2005/02/17: Belated news & Updates

Ishigaki Yuuma, Aya & Oguri Shun attended a live event at the Virgin TOHO Cinema Roppongi Hills in Tokyo on the 8th to announce the completion of the new movie "Azumi2" out on 3/12. The main guests of the event, Aya, Yuuma and Shun appeared in chic traditional Japanese clothing for the occasion. A preview of the movie was shown to the public who assisted the event.

Aya attended on 2/3, with NHK taiga drama "Yoshitsune" co-stars Takizawa Hideaki and others, the "Setsubun", an annual good luck bean-throwing event. The ceremony was held at the Naritasan New Victory Temple.

2005/01/31: 1st animated CM! + Updates

Aya served as the image model for the car information magazine "Goo". Aya attended the new CM symposium that was held in Tokyo on the 31st. The CM features the animated version of Aya (right on the pic, lol) drawn by famous cartoonist Hisashi Eguchi. The CM will start airing on 2/2.

Aya will release her 2nd video clip collection DVD on March 16th. "UETO AYA CLIPS 02" will include the 5 PVs (binetsu, ai no tameni., kaze, afuresou na ai, daite, usotsuki) their making of, TV spots and also special never before seen footage.

2005/01/01: 55th Kouhaku Utagessen

Aya appeared on NHK's annual end of the year music show "Kouhaku Utagessen" yesterday on New Year's eve. She was first to appear on stage at the NHK hall. She started off the show singing her hit song, "Ai no tameni.". After the performance, Aya cried bitterly backstage as she had given out all of her energy.
